An interdisciplinary team of scientists is sent to the Artic Ocean to study the effects of climate change on marine life under the ice. Their floating research station features a huge ice pool in the middle and is built on a thick ice floor.

Suddenly, a new breed of agressive, ravenous sharks, with the ability to pierce ice (a la TREMORS), cracks the frozen floor and begins devouring all who fall through. As the ice breaks apart and the research station sinks into the frigid waters, they must fashion whatever weapons available before they are eaten alive.
