Her Smell bests Specialty Box Office competition in its first weekend

Good news for the first weekend release of Her Smell!

Voltage Pictures is proud to announce that Alex Ross Perry’s Her Smell starring Elisabeth Moss (Us, The Handmaid’s Tale, The Old Man & the Gun) opened in North America with the highest per theater average of the weekend, grossing $36.941 and averaging $12,314 from theaters in New York and Toronto (source: boxofficemojo.com).

Next up, Her Smell will head to more art house locations in select cities as well as the Arclight Hollywood.

This is the third collaboration between Moss and Perry following Queen Of Earth (2015, $91K theatrical) and Listen Up Philip (2014, $200K theatrical).

Elisabeth Moss stars as Becky Something, a maniac rock star and leader of a seminal all-female punk rock band. Mother of one, bandmate to two, and friend to none, Becky is at the height of her career and the top of the party game — with only one direction to go. When a new band bursts onto the scene, Becky decides to become their mentor.

With the added responsibility and watching her former friend rise to celebrity megastardom while her career falters, she plummets even deeper into her downward spiral. It’s only when she hits rock bottom that she finds her path to true redemption.

Taking control of her life, she attempts to reengage her creativity that had once led her band to massive crossover success to become the woman and mother she was always meant to be.
