The terror is real: Blumhouse's 'Imaginary' Horror About a Scary Teddy Bear is now in cinemas

He’s not imaginary, and he’s not your friend. Blumhouse’s  Imaginary hits theaters this weekend.

From Blumhouse, the genre-defining masterminds behind Five Nights at Freddy’s and M3GAN, comes an original horror that taps into the innocence of imaginary friends – and begs the question: Are they really figments of childhood imagination or is something more terrifying lying just beneath?

When Jessica (DeWanda Wise) moves back into her childhood home with her family, her youngest stepdaughter Alice (Pyper Braun) develops an eerie attachment to a stuffed bear named Chauncey she finds in the basement. Alice starts playing games with Chauncey that begin playful and become increasingly sinister.

As Alice’s behavior becomes more and more concerning, Jessica intervenes only to realize Chauncey is much more than the stuffed toy bear she believed him to be.

Imaginary is directed by Jeff Wadlow, written by Jeff Wadlow & Greg Erb & Jason Oremland and produced by Jason Blum, Jeff Wadlow, p.g.a.

Imaginary stars DeWanda Wise, Tom Payne, Taegen Burns, Pyper Braun, Veronica Falcon and Betty Buckley.

Imaginary is Wadlow’s third collaboration with Blumhouse, including the box office hit Truth or Dare. “We have a lot of trust in Jeff’s ability,” says producer Jason Blum. “So, when he came to us with the idea behind the film, we were excited to explore his imaginary world. Jeff brings a unique vision and storytelling expertise to every project he's involved in, and his passion for the horror genre shines through in IMAGINARY. Jeff has a strong understanding of what makes horror films resonate with audiences, and his creative approach to blending psychological horror with childhood themes is what made us so enthusiastic about this project. His ability to craft compelling characters and build tension is exceptional.”

The monsters and specters haunting Jessica and her new family are the creation of the award-winning animatronic and practical effects house Spectral Motion. The company created the story’s creatures — Chauncey, and the fabrications and costume for a fearsome giant Spider, the shadowy Entity, and Chauncey’s monstrous alter ego, Bear Beast.

According to creature effects supervisor Mark Viniello, Spectral Motion largely used puppets to bring these terrifying beings to life, which facilitated their interaction with the cast members. Instead of pretending to emote opposite a visual effect that would be added months later, the actors had a tactile “being” to interact with.

Lionsgate and Blumhouse present, a Tower of Babble production.

Prorom will release Imaginary in Hungary and Slovakia (on March 7), Romania and Bulgaria (on March 8), Czech Republic (on March 14).

Ladybug & Cat Noir begin their first adventure on the big screen!

Ladybug & Cat Noir: The Movie, the much-anticipated feature adaptation of one of the biggest animated franchises of the past decade, will premiere in cinemas this weekend.

Directed by Jeremy Zag, this CG-animated musical superhero movie centers on the origin story of star-crossed Parisian teens, Marinette Dupain-Cheng and Adrien Agreste, who become the powerful superheroes, Ladybug and Cat Noir, and join forces to protect the City of Lights from a dangerous supervillain known as Hawk Moth.

Based on the global blockbuster TV series Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug and Cat Noir, which first debut in Oct. 2015, this franchise finally arrives on the big screen.

The film’s writer-director-producer Jeremy Zag always knew that the dynamic characters of the Miraculous franchise had the huge potential to be adapted into a major animated musical feature. Zag, who also composed the music and co-wrote the songs for the movie, says he realized the project had the perfect ingredients for a movie when he began developing a stage musical based on the show.

“The more I began to develop the songs and the musical adaptation, I realized that the property has a lot in its hearts to tell audiences” says Zag, who also produced the TV series.

“With music, especially, you can touch the hearts of everyone, both young and old. I could see the movie in my head and the other producers and I had this epiphany at the same that that we just had to make Ladybug and Cat Noir into an animated musical.”

Zag says he wanted to create a fantastic experience for a new audience that perhaps isn’t familiar with the Miraculous franchise while pleasing the original fans of the TV show with a rich and intriguing origin stories for the characters.

“We set out to make new viewers fall in love with the characters and feel what the fans have felt about them and be swept away by the love story, the exciting action sequences and the songs and music.”

Prorom will release Ladybug & Cat Noir: The Movie in cinemas in Romania on December 22. The film has already been released in Hungary, Czech Republic and Slovakia where it was a real success.

Only 3 Days Left – now in cinemas

The team that brought you comedies like Alibi.com, Babysitting and Superwho returns to the cinema with a new comedy: Only 3 Days Left!

Only 3 Days Left is directed by Tarek Boudali and stars Tarek Boudali, Philippe Lacheau, Julien Arruti, Vanessa Guide, José Garcia, Reem Kherici, Rossy de Palma, Élodie Fontan and Chantal Ladesou.

Rayane, a clumsy yet well-meaning cop discovers his wannabe reality-TV star grandma has been kidnapped by a Mexican drug cartel who give him only 3 days to deliver an impossible ransom. With his loyal team by his side, the unlikely hero will embark on an insane globe trotting mission across France, Abu Dhabi and Mexico to save her.

The Director and the star of the movie Tarek Boudali about his film: “The idea was to make an American-style comedy. We needed spectacular sequences. And because I wanted to parody Mission: Impossible, and especially the scene in which Tom Cruise scales the famous Burj Khalifa in Dubai, I chose Abu Dhabi and the Conrad Towers, which are as high as the Eiffel Tower”.

Philippe Lacheau about his character and the resemblance with David Guetta: “I was skeptical at first. I wondered about what I would look like. After a session with the hairdresser and makeup artist, I realized that there was some resemblance. It was nice having all those people dance in front of you. You’re surrounded by pretty girls in bathing suits, everyone applauds you, and that’s a DJ’s daily life. I experienced it and it wasn’t unpleasant. Even after they announced “Cut”, the extras screamed: “David Guetta!”. I make a good pathological liar”.

3 jours max / Only 3 Days Left is now in cinemas.
