Liam Neeson and son Micheál star in Made in Italy

Liam Neeson and his actor son Micheál Richardson have unveiled the trailer for their new comedy-drama Made in Italy.

Liam Neeson stars opposite his real-life son Micheál Richardson in the story of a bohemian London artist who returns to Italy with his estranged son to make a quick sale on the Tuscan villa they inherited from his late wife, only to find it in a desperate state of disrepair.

Written and directed by Dunkirk actor James D'Arcy, the dramedy was a chance for Neeson to take on a romantic role after being known for a series of successful action movies.

Made in Italy takes on added poignancy in light of the real-life tragic death of Neeson’s wife Natasha Richardson after suffering a fall while skiing in Canada back in 2009. His son, Micheál changed his name in honor of his late mother. So, the storyline of Made in Italy has a uniquely personal touch.

Made in Italy is due for release in US cinemas and on VOD on August 7. The Romanian release date will be in September.
