The Amazing Maurice is coming to cinemas

This weekend we invite you to the cinemas! Together with Ro Image, we are releasing the animated comedy for the whole family The Amazing Maurice.

Maurice, a streetwise cat, has the perfect money-making scam. He’s found a stupid-looking kid who plays a pipe, and his very own plague of rats – rats who, strangely, are educated and literate, so Maurice can no longer think of them as “lunch”. And everyone knows the stories about rats and pipers...

However, when Maurice and the rodents reach the stricken town of Bad Blintz, their little con goes down the drain. For someone there is playing a different tune. A dark, shadowy tune. Something very, very bad is waiting in the cellars.

But Maurice wouldn’t be Maurice if he and his friends didn’t manage to save the day in the end!

The Amazing Maurice is the adaptation of the novel of the same name by Terry Pratchett.

Terry Pratchett was an English author of fantasy novels, especially, comical works. He is best known for his Discworld series of 41 novels. Pratchett, with more than 100 million books sold worldwide in 37 languages, was the UK’s bestselling author of the 1990s.

In 2011 he won the annual Carnegie Medal for The Amazing Maurice and his Educated Rodents, the first Discworld book for children. Pratchett died on 12 March 2015 aged 66.

“What a great honour to have the opportunity to film a Terry Pratchett book. After reading The Amazing Maurice, I am even more thrilled to bring this fantastic novel to the big screen” said Director Toby Genkel.

For the Romanian version, the voices belong to the actors: Mircea Băluță (Maurice), Oana Laura Gabriela (Malicia), Justinian Năstasă (Keith), Mike Gheorghiu (Dangerous Beans), Virgil Aioanei (Darktan), Nicu Enescu (Boss Man-Death) şi Silvia Gâscă (Peaches).

The Amazing Maurice can be seen from February 3 only in cinemas.

Medieval – Now in cinemas

This weekend, Medieval is in Romanian cinemas – a movie inspired by the true story of Jan Žižka, one of the greatest warriors in history.

Medieval tells the story of the Czech warlord Jan Žižka (approx.1360–1424), who led the military wing of the followers of the religious thinker and reformer of the Catholic Church Jan Hus, the so-called Hussites. Žižka is considered a very important figure in Czech history and Czech statehood.

After eight years of preparation, Jan Žižka (Medieval) began filming on 17 September 2018 and the last day of shooting was on 8 December 2018.

“Fifty-six days of shooting feels like forever. On the very first day we had three hundred people on set. We had a lot of very action-packed scenes,” says Petr Jákl, who wrote the script, directed and produced the film.

The cast: Ben Foster, Sophie Lowe, Matthew Goode, Til Schweiger, Michael Caine, Vinzenz Kiefer, Werner Daehn, William Moseley, Sophie Lowe, Karel Roden, Ondřej Vetchý, Marek Vašut, Jan Budař, Ben Cristovao and Romana Jákl Vítová.

Petr Jákl has already experienced this type of work in big foreign projects, including in the films Bad Company, Alien vs. Predator, and the historical series Borgia, but also as an actor and stuntman.

Prorom and Ro Image will release Medieval in Romanian cinemas on October, 7, 2022.

Three Thousand Years of Longing - now in cinemas!

The new film by Master Storyteller George Miller, Three Thousand Years of Longing is now playing in cinemas!

Dr Alithea Binnie (Tilda Swinton) is content with life and comes at the world with a healthy scepticism. Despite this she encounters a Djinn (Idris Elba) who offers her three wishes in exchange for his freedom.

This is a problem because she is a scholar of narrative and knows all the cautionary tales about wishes gone wrong. He pleads his case by telling her fantastical stories of his past. Eventually she is beguiled and makes a wish that surprises them both.

Oscar-winning filmmaker George Miller first encountered Alithea and the Djinn when he read British author A.S. Byatt’s 1994 short story The Djinn in the Nightingale’s Eye in the late 1990s.

“It’s a story that seemed to probe many of the mysteries and paradoxes of life, and so succinctly” Miller recalls. “Once read it stayed with me, as some stories tend to do… then, one day it occurred to me that it should be a film.”

“It felt unique, something that you couldn’t quite fit into any genre and it ticked one very important box - there must be a whole lot more to it than meets the eye. There are stories within stories, a little like One Thousand and One Nights” says Miller.

Idris Elba: “It is an absolute postcard to the art of storytelling. It’s an unconventional film but has a very honest focus. The point is that stories are really important to humankind”.

Prorom and Ro Image will release Three Thousand Years of Longing in Romanian cinemas on September, 2, 2022.
