Spermageddon – screened for the first time in Romania at Animest 2025 in the presence of co-director Rasmus A. Sivertsen
The anniversary edition of the Animest International Animation Festival (October 3 - 12) will make an incursion into the world of animation through 349 short films and 26 feature films from around the world, grouped into 94 screenings.
For 10 days, Bucharest becomes the largest animation hub in Europe, and viewers of all ages will be carried to the big screens through very diverse stories, many of them presented by their creators themselves, special guests at the event.
QVISTEN is the invited Studio at this Animest edition.
Qvisten Animation Studio was founded in 1994 and has been producing animated content for over 30 years. With over 80 employees, Qvisten is Scandinavia's largest animation studio, producing films in CGI, stop-motion, and classic 2D animation.
Qvisten specializes in CGI feature films for families based on Nordic stories by Astrid Lindgren and Kjell Aukrust. But Qvisten also creates its own stories and concepts, such as the upcoming adventure film Nightling.
Qvisten has produced over 25 feature films for cinema, many of which have been box office successes in Norway. Their most recent production is the much-debated Spermageddon, a comedy about the miracle of life aimed at a teenage and young adult audience. Rasmus A. Sivertsen is the company's creative director and has directed 15 animated features.
Spermageddon is an animated musical comedy for adults, in the style of Sausage Party and South Park, directed by Rasmus A. Sivertsen (co-founder and artistic director of Qvisten Animation Studio in Norway, special guest at Animest 2025) and Tommy Wirkola (Dead Snow, Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters, What Happened to Monday, Violent Night).
In Spermageddon, viewers will see two stories, one about the love between two awkward teenagers, Jens and Lisa, who have sex for the first time. The other is the story of Simon, the sperm who embarks on an adventurous quest to reach the ultimate goal, the Ovul.
This will be the first screening of Spermageddon in Romania.
